Link It Software Corporation Awarded State Grant for Expansion
18 Jan, 2008

MILBANK, SD, Governor Mike Rounds recently announced Link It Software is the recipient of a $25,000 Workforce Development Program Grant to assist in their commitment to the advancement of their employees. Due to the ongoing success of the company, Link It is expanding their tech support and customer service operations at Milbank. Link It has just added additional four staff members and is interviewing to add another five to 10 employees minimum.

Link It Software, with executive offices in Valencia, California, expanded to Milbank in 2005 after a lengthy search for a location in the US and overseas, including India and the Philippines. Link It’s managing partners, CEO Wayne McFarland and President Dr. Gloria McFarland, a Cal Tech Ph.D., were heavily influenced in their decision to move to South Dakota by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, local communities, and ultimately Governor Rounds himself.

“On paper, going off shore seemed obvious considering the differences in staff costs,” explained McFarland. “However, we believed South Dakota, with its great cost of living and terrific workforce was the formula for long term success in our industry. We put our faith in that formula and we were right. We have been impressed by the economic climate of the state, the quality of the workforce and aggressiveness and support of Milbank’s economic development committee.”

Link It Software Corporation has developed economical software applications for business areas where only custom, high-ticket applications had existed. Their products, sold worldwide include Job Master Software, designed to run job shops and small- to medium sized manufactures, EZ Maintenance, a full featured Windows® application which schedules and controls maintenance for all types of equipment and vehicles, and EZM Web, a web based maintenance tracking application launched in May of 2006,

These software packages have thousands of users throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. Link It's customers range from small companies to large firms such as Disney, G.E., Lockheed, Northrop-Grumman, Shell Oil, White Sands Missile Range, Los Alamos Labs, Sony, and others.

“We were impressed with Governor Rounds work to present the case for South Dakota in our initial move and the determination of Milbank to bring our business to Milbank. We have been further impressed by the efforts made by our employees, the staff of South Dakota’s Office of Economic Development and the local communities in South Dakota,” McFarland stated. “They have shown us they are as committed to us as we are to our company in South Dakota.”

“The Workforce Development Program is critical to the state’s 2010 Initiative,” Gov. Rounds said, “and is our commitment to long-term benefits for the people of South Dakota. We see improving the skill of our workforce as an excellent investment for South Dakota and the future of our state.”
